Biointerface Research in Applied Chemistry was established in 2011 and published its first issue on 15 February 2011 as an open-access scholarly journal supporting peer-reviewed research in applied chemistry and related interdisciplinary fields.
The journal was founded with the objective of facilitating the dissemination and exchange of scientific research involving chemistry, materials science, biological systems, biointerfaces, and related areas of applied research.
In 2014, publishing responsibility for Biointerface Research in Applied Chemistry was transferred to AMG Transcend Association, which has since been responsible for the journal’s publication and publishing infrastructure. Scientific evaluation, peer review, and manuscript-level editorial decisions are conducted through the journal’s editorial structure in accordance with its published editorial policies.
Over time, the journal has developed its editorial policies, peer-review procedures, research-integrity requirements, open-access practices, and digital publishing infrastructure in response to developments in scholarly communication and the disciplines represented within its scope.
The journal has been indexed in Scopus since 2016.
Biointerface Research in Applied Chemistry continues to review and develop its editorial policies, scope, publishing practices, and technical infrastructure in order to support transparent, independent, and responsible scholarly communication.
